Verstappen is not motivated by teammate: "I don't need anyone for that"

For weeks now, there has been speculation about Alexander Albon's future at Red Bull Racing and who might succeed him. Nico Hülkenberg is often mentioned as someone who could drive alongside Verstappen. However, the Dutchman knows that he does not have the last word on this.
"In the end it's not up to me, I don't make the decision. Of course they ask for my opinion, but in the end it doesn't matter that much to me at the moment," Verstappen mainly refers to the fact that he can't compete for the world title this season after all.
No need for a fast second driver in 2020
Should that ever be the case, a second driver who can stay in the track will come in handy. "If you are close to Mercedes and you can do some things with strategy, then it is nice to have a second driver."
He doesn't think that he would need someone in the other car to push him.
"When I just entered Formula 1, of course, I did, because you don't know that much yet and you don't have that much experience. But I think after five or six years that's fine, I don't need anyone for that," Verstappen concluded in his interview for 'Peptalk' on Ziggo Sport.
