Verstappen under fire for swearing over radio

"What a retard. What a Mongol," Max Verstappen said on the onboard radio after his collision with Lance Stroll in the second free practice in Portugal. He was already criticized by Helmut Marko, but that is not all.

Whereas Christian Horner initially stood up for Verstappen, Marko was not so lenient. “We told him this was a no-go,” he told Sky Sports Germany. Mongolian politician Unro Janchiv also said he was not happy with Verstappen and his use of the word Mongol as a swear word. On Twitter she asked if Verstappen and his team missed the idea behind the We Race As One initiative.

Public apology

After all the fuss on social media, there is now also a demand for a public apology. Mongol Identity, a Scottish organization set up to protect Mongol identity, has sent a public letter to Max Verstappen. In the letter, the organization expresses its opinion that the statements made by Verstappen are offensive and expects an official apology. The entire letter can be read below.
