Albon struggling with the tyres: "We had a hard time on the soft tyre"
It looked like Alexander Albon could qualify behind Max Verstappen in fourth, but at the end he was passed by Leclerc and Perez. The Red Bull Racing driver had to settle for sixth place.
Another tyre choice
Like Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, Albon went out on the medium tyre for his final run at the end of Q3. With this he adopted a different tactic than Max Verstappen. “It was worth trying. The medium tire is very good, but the conditions are difficult this weekend," he tells the Ziggo Sport cameras.
The choice to go out with the medium tyre was not entirely by choice. “To be honest, we had a hard time on the soft tyre. We didn't really understand why. The medium tire is a bit more consistent and easier to drive. ”
Score points
With a sixth place on the starting grid, Albon can be somewhat satisfied, although he is still more than half a second from Verstappen. Albon itself is in any case satisfied with the result. "Yes", Albon agrees, "it is a good place to start and we can score good points."
