At the Haas press conference in Portugal, there was one hot topic in particular, the announced departures of both Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. Grosjean admitted he was particularly surprised they will both be leaving the team.

Financial reasons

Everything comes to an end, and Grosjean's time with Haas is no different. At the press conference, he looked back on his time at Haas with a good feeling and called it a great adventure. He admitted he expected one of them to still be there next season. "I expected it to be for financial reasons, because the world is a different place. Günther then called me and told me that we both left, for financial reasons,"  he said as quoted by Motorsport-Magazin.

The coronavius pandemic has taken a toll on the team financially so it is no surprise to see Nikita Mazepin linked with the team given his father's wealth. Mick Schumacher has also been linked to a seat.

Magnussen open to anything

Over the past four years, Magnussen has driven for Haas, and he admitted he has learned a lot and has become a better driver. As far as his future is concerned, he is open to everything, but there are not many seats left in Formula 1. "It is difficult to make a good deal anywhere, not just in Formula 1," said Magnussen.
