There is a lot of speculation whether, and with which team, Nico Hulkenberg will return to Formula 1 next year. Both Red Bull Racing , Alfa Romeo and Haas have already been mentioned. However, Guenther Steiner says he is not actively negotiating with Hulkenberg.

Nikita Mazepin

Haas' team seems to be having conversations with Nikita Mazepin at the moment. Speaking to Sport1, Steiner admitted to talking to the wealthy father of Formula 2 driver Mazepin during the Russian Grand Prix weekend.

"Mr. Mazepin would like his son to get a seat in Formula 1," Steiner said. "And his son probably wants it even better. But first we have to decide where we want to go, then we'll sit around the table with those who are interested."

Ferrari Junior drivers

In addition, a junior Ferrari driver could potentially drive for Haas. After all, Ferrari are an engine supplier and partner of the team. This could be Mick Schumacher , Callum Ilott or Robert Shwartzman.

"We work closely with Ferrari, so if we are going to take a driver out of Formula 2, it is likely to be a Ferrari driver," said Steiner.

Steiner is in favour of Mick Schumacher driving for the team. "I certainly don't have anything against that. Who wouldn't want a Schumacher back in Formula 1? Certainly in the form in which he is now. But that decision is up to Ferrari."

Nico Hulkenberg could also be an option for Haas. However, Steiner has revealed he hasn't spoken to the German in a few weeks.

"I haven't spoken to Nico in a couple of weeks. As a team, we need to know what we want before we approach people. Nico is very respected in F1 and we know what he can do, but it would be unfair to talk to people before we know what is best for us," Steiner said.
