Not just in Formula 1, but also in other racing classes, COVID-19 is the talk of the day. As is the case for MotoGP, where Valentino Rossi tested positive for coronavirus today. He is the first MotoGP rider to be infected and will miss the upcoming race in Aragon.

Rossi tested positive for COVID-19

Rossi reported the news on his Instagram page: "When I woke up this morning I didn't feel well. I felt sick and had a mild fever. I immediately called the doctor and had two tests done. The quick test reported a negative result, but the PCR test turned out to be positive. At 4:00 PM I got the result. I'm very sorry to miss the race in Aragon." Chances are he will miss the next Grand Prix as well.

The Yamaha team, which Rossi rides for, has reported in a press release that his situation is being monitored by doctors. It is also reported that he has not been in contact with anyone else who will be on the track this weekend.

Rossi admitted he is disappointed, but also angry, "I am angry and disappointed because I did my best to follow the protocols. Tuesday's test was negative. I've gone into self-isolation since the last Grand Prix. It is what it is."

It's not the first time a staff member of Yamaha tested positive for the virus. During the French Grand Prix, six staff members of the team tested positive for COVID-19.
