Palmer about Renault: 'Because of Ferrari and Albon they achieve these results'

Renault took the first podium at the Nürburgring in 2020. The French team had already come close a number of times, with a fourth place in Monza, for example, but a real podium had not been seen for a long time, so Daniel Ricciardo changed that. Jolyon Palmer is happy that his old team is once again succeeding.
"This year they are actually driving where they should be driving, in midfield. However, there are many things that indicate that they are making progress. They have more to celebrate than Ricciardo's podium," Palmer explains in his column on the BBC. "It seems that they have made progress and this result is already coming in a number of races."
Best of the Rest is P3
Palmer is referring to the better results achieved by Renault in Italy and Russia. She has already scored a number of points and this shows that the upgrades are working. "Ricciardo is now fourth in the championship and although Renault is still fifth in the constructors' championship, they are only six points behind in third place, Racing Point.
"They are now even faster than Racing Point, because if you look at qualifying, they are the third team behind Mercedes and Red Bull Racing". Palmer expects more podiums for teams in midfield, including Renault. "With Ferrari lagging behind, the title best of the rest is now for the third team. And because Alexander Albon has problems, best of the rest for the drivers is fourth behind Mercedes and Max Verstappen," said Palmer.
