Helmut Marko has spoken about the seat next to Max Verstappen next year at Broadcaster Sport 1. His current teammate Alexander Albon is having a hard time next to the Dutchman, but according to Marko he is in control.

During the Eifel Grand Prix, Albon had to cope with quite a lot, especially on Sunday. If the Saftey Car hadn't made it to the track after Norris dropped out, the Thaise-Brit would probably have been put on a lap again by his team mate, because the gap halfway the race was already more than half a lap with Verstappen. After the race there is a lot of speculation about Albon's seat. Will he still have to sit next year next to Verstappen?

Albon has it in his own hands

Marko is asked at Sport1 about the performance of Mick Schumacher and if asked what Albon has to do to sit next year next to Verstappen at Red Bull: "With us the performance plays a role, but as long as Albon is in the green zone, there is no cockpit available with us".

Albon will therefore have to stay in the neighbourhood of Verstappen and continue to improve. The question is how far away Verstappen can be. Usually around three tenths of a second is said, but that gap is often a lot bigger. During the qualification at the Nurburgring it was already half a second.
