Horner thinks he knows why Hamilton had a good restart

Max Verstappen had no choice but to follow Lewis Hamilton on Sunday afternoon at the Nürburgring. The RB16 was fast, but the Dutchman of Red Bull Racing was never close enough to Lewis Hamilton's tail to launch an attack, not even at the restart.
The Satefy Car at the end of the race seemed to be a gift to Verstappen and Red Bull. This probably offered them the only chance to win the race. However, Hamilton managed it perfectly to get away well and take the victory.
Warming up the tyres extra important at the Nüburgring
Christian Horner thinks he will have an explanation for this afterwards. "Because the Safety Car was out for so long the tyre temperatures plummeted which Lewis, with the DAS system, was able to handle a little better than we were," says Horner in the team's press release.
Horner thus confirms the assumption that the Mercedes DAS system does offer an advantage in cold conditions. Incidentally, it doesn't explain why Verstappen had to go on the defensive against Daniel Ricciardo, who apparently had enough grip right away.
