Nico Hulkenberg has had an intense weekend, filling in at the last minute for Lance Stroll. The German performed well in his home race, driving the car for the first time in qualifying and securing a strong P8 finish for Racing Point.

"What a crazy story, hey," Hulkenberg jokes with Ziggo Sport. "I was laughing today on the track. I did what I could. I am very happy with that. I didn't expect that."

For the 33-year-old driver it was a tough ask to drive a Grand Prix with only a day's notice. "I've never had a race where I've never talked so little during the race. I didn't have time to talk. I was so busy driving on the limit".

In an interview with German Sky, Hulkenberg goes on to say that he doesn't expect to end up at Red Bullnext season. "That chance is very small," he says. Red Bull would focus on the driver's academy. It also seems a seat at Haas F1 is also unrealistic at the moment. Rumour has it that Sergio Perez and Nikita Mazepin will drive for the American team in 2021.
