Verstappen is surprised: "That would certainly be a shock for us!"

Once again, a speed record was broken in Formula 1 this year, this time on a circuit that hasn't been raced on for years. Max Verstappen remains amazed by the speed of the cars.
Since the beginning of the hybrid era, there has been a lot of criticism of the cars in Formula 1. For example, it has not brought more engine manufacturers into the sport, there are a lot of technical problems, and the roaring sound of V8 and V12 engines has gone.
What the current generation of Formula 1 cars have become very good at though is achieving incredibly high speeds. Today the record at the Nürburgring was broken by Valtteri Bottas by almost two seconds and according to Max Verstappen this is no exception. "They are fast on every track! We get used to them sometimes, but getting into a car from 2015 or 2016 would certainly be a shock for us. These cars are really great," the Dutchman said at the FIA press conference after qualifying.
Never enough for Verstappen
However, according to the Red Bull Racing driver, there is always room for improvement. "You've got so much grip, but even if you're pushing in qualifying you still feel like you're missing grip. You always want to go faster, but it's impressive stuff, to be so much faster on a track like this," concluded Verstappen.
