Hamilton was overruled by the team: 'Will see if it was the right choice'

Normally the teams of Mercedes and Red Bull Racing try to set their fastest time in Q2 on the medium tyre. For the qualifying ahead of the Eifel Grand Prix, that plan however didn't go through, against the wishes of Lewis Hamilton.
In Q2, the two black arrows of Mercedes went out on the medium tyres. Although Valtteri Bottas' time probably wouldn't be good enough to go through to Q3, Hamilton's time seemed good enough. Still, the Brit had to go out again on the red tyre.
After qualifying it turned out to be against Hamilton's own wishes. "I could have continued on that tyre. I wanted to start on the medium tyre because I like to use a different strategy than my competitors. But the team chose for of us both to start on the same tyre," Hamilton explained to the assembled press, including RaceFans.net.
Was it the right choice?
Still, the six-time world champion has confidence in his team. "We'll see if it was the right choice tomorrow. I am sure it is the right choice, I think the other option would have been a bit too hard".
Bottas meanwhile is happy to start on the soft tyre because the Finn wasn't happy with the medium tyre at all on Saturday.
