Sebastian Vettel leaves Ferrari after this season and makes the switch to Aston Martin. In the podcast Beyond the Grid, the German looks back on his time at Ferrari, and certainly doesn't spare himself, although there were sometimes external reasons for the inferior performance, but he prefers to leave that in the middle.

Didn't get what he wanted

Vettel went to Ferrari with the mission to become world champion. After Schumacher, the four-time world champion who came over from Red Bull would bring the Italians back to the top step. Unfortunately for Vettel and the Ferrari fans, things went a little differently.

"When I look back, I have no regrets. It is true that I failed because my mission was to win titles with Ferrari. There are things I could have done better, things I should have done earlier, battles I shouldn't have concentrated on",  is Vettel somewhat mysterious. Vettel doesn't want to tell which fights he shouldn't have concentrated on.

Looking ahead

The German is realistic about the things that have not worked out and takes a positive view: 'But once again, I think that everything that has happened has brought me where I am now. So, if I am honest, I have indeed failed. Are there any reasons behind it? Probably. But I don't want to use them as an excuse. So what's done is done and they're putting me in the way of my next step."

That next step will be at Aston Martin, now Racing Point. The German recently signed a contract and is taking over the parade from Sergio Perez.
