Honda shocked the Formula 1 world last week with the announcement that they will leave the royal class after next year. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation about the reason for leaving because the reason given by Honda is not believed by everyone. Auto,Motor und Sport did an analysis on the possible reasons for departure.

Honda is going to stop in Formula 1 because they want to be climate neutral in the future and, according to the Japanese, the hybrid engines in Formula 1 do not fit this ambition. However, not everyone is satisfied with this reason, especially since Formula 1 is becoming increasingly greener. For example, Formula 1 wants to drive emission-free in the future and reduce emissions.

Reason for departure

Auto Motor und Sport has made an analysis of Honda and the times its Formula 1 turned its back on it. This has happened many times in the past and will happen again next year. According to the German medium, the main reason why Honda is leaving is because things are not going well in the car industry, which means that there is less money, and not just because of its climate-free ambitions.

Honda knows that they will not win from Mercedes with less money, and that remains the ultimate goal. Honda wants to be the best, and the Japanese can only be the best if unlimited money can be spent. According to Auto, Motor und Sport, this is not the case, partly because of the budget cap and the collapsed global car sales, which is why Honda is throwing in the towel.

Dominance Mercedes

Honda has come to realise that Mercedes remains dominant and that its engine lacks almost 30 hp compared to Mercedes. Now that there is no possibility of winning at any price, Honda realises that they are not going to beat Mercedes.
