Russell proposes redesign: "This is terrible"

Turn 2 at Sochi caused a lot of discussion this year. Due to various incidents and drivers who have difficulty with the track limits, the turn is receiving a lot of criticism. George Russell also has expressed his thoughts on the turn.
"First of all, it is one of the worst corners of the calendar," said George Russell to Racefans.net. "And secondly, for racing, is a terrible design.” The Williams driver had previously called for a redesign of the corner. "We’ve got the room and the space to create almost a Bahrain-style turn one and two, going into a kink, which will allow drivers to lunge one another into turn one to get better racing and also avoid people having to cut the track.”
Ricciardo not a fan either
Daniel Ricciardo was given a five-second time penalty for going wide at turn two. The Renault rider also backed changes to the turn. “I think they could do something better with it in general,” said Ricciardo. “Even just to allow more overtaking, maybe a different shape corner, less of a short apex. They’ve got quite a bit of room to play with.”
Masi sees room for improvement
Formula 1 racing director Michael Masi also admits that there is room for improvement in the corner. “Turn two has been one of those that’s been a challenge in different ways each year,” he said. “You fix things in one way and has another impact in another. We’re trying to find the best solution but there is always room for improvement."
