Christian Horner is satisfied with Max Verstappen's second place. The Red Bull Racing team boss agrees that Valtteri Bottas' Mercedes was simply too fast during the Russian Grand Prix.

"Yes, absolutely," Horner responds when asked whether this result from Verstappen was the highest possible. "Mercedes had a faster car than us this weekend. We benefited from Hamilton's time penalty, but Max extracted everything out of the car throughout the weekend. It's our best result here in the six years we've been coming here so I'm pleased with Max's drive today."

Red Bull complimentary about Verstappen

The British boss is very pleased with the performance of his Dutch pupil. "We know that Max is driving at a very high level. We know that Lewis can do the same. I think Max's lap yesterday was sensational. He made absolutely no mistakes. It was a very matured and measured performance," Horner said in a press briefing from Red Bull.

To what extent was it an advantage that Verstappen could start on the mediums on Sunday afternoon? "I think we would have had a better start performance [on the softs] but we wouldn't have had the longevity. I don't think it made much of a difference."
