Ricciardo unhappy despite positive surprise: ''This hurts''

Daniel Ricciardo took a surprising P4 at the Tuscan Grand Prix. The Australian himself was also surprised with the result, although he was disappointed right after the race because he did not reach the podium.
Ricciardo was close to his first podium for Renault at the Tuscany Grand Prix. The former Red Bull Racing driver recently announced that a podium for him would be tattooed by Cyril Abiteboul, but the Frenchman was able to breathe a sigh of relief. Alexander Albon passed the Renault driver by.
Ricciardo doesn't smile
''I have my normal smile on my face, but deep inside it hurts a lot'', Ricciardo said after the race according to Speedweek.com. ''Renault did a great job and with the right start and strategy we came in third place. If Albon had caught me at the start it might have hurt less, but I just didn't have an answer for his speed," said the Australian who does look back on a great weekend.
''We were quite surprised ourselves by the performance in Tuscany. We knew we would be fast on high speed circuits like Spa and Monza, but for Mugello we didn't really expect that. The results at Mugello are therefore very promising, because it shows that we are making progress," concludes the Renault driver.
