Exit hurts Perez anyway: "The car looks great for next year too"
- GPblog.com
Sergio Perez has been pushed aside at Racing Point. In 2021 his seat will be taken by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. The team that will continue as Aston Martin from that year onwards is known as an ambitious team. It therefore hurts Perez to say goodbye.
Aston Martin will be stronger than Racing Point
Lawrence Stroll and his team have chosen to keep Lance Stroll within the new team of 2021 and to add Vettel at the expense of Perez. It hurts Perez to leave the team that is doing very well this year and will probably do well next year.
Although the good shape of 2020 is subject to justified questions and comments, Perez feels he is leaving a fast car behind: "I know I am leaving a great car that looks very good for next year," the driver says according to Motosportweek.com. "The team will certainly be even stronger next year than this year."
Still pain at Perez
Although the Mexican says there are enough offers for the rest of his career, it hurts a bit: "It hurts a bit more, knowing that you have to leave a good car behind. But you never know, in Formula 1 it can change quickly."
"I am curious what the future has in store for me and for the team."
