The pressure on Honda and Red Bull Racing is increasing now that once again no package good enough to compete for the world title has been made by 2020. Max Verstappen was disappointed after the Tuscany Grand Prix, but according to Christijan Albers there is not a man overboard yet.

Honda still has one step to take

The GP of Tuscany was quickly over for Verstappen. After a good qualification there was again a problem with his engine and he fell back at the start. In the end, Verstappen was the victim of a crash and his race was ended prematurely. According to Albers, however, Verstappen doesn't need to worry too much.

''I think Honda makes good engines. They are reliable and fast. Last race Pierre Gasly won a race with a engine that lasted fine, Alexander Albon was able to overtake Ricciardo on the straight and the speed could also be seen in qualifying at Verstappen. It's not surprising that they were back in Mugello, because that's a High Downforce Track'', says the former Formula 1 driver in the De Telegraaf podcast.

Albers keeps confidence in Red Bull

According to Albers, Red Bull should therefore not be ashamed. ''They should always aim to win and by the end of 2019 they were really competitive, but you never know what the competition is doing,'' says Albers, who sees that despite the frustration, Verstappen is in good shape.

''As a driver you just have those seasons when everything runs smoothly and you feel great about yourself. You can also see that with Max. On the one hand I understand his frustration, but on the other hand I don't either. He is in a competitive car and the other Honda drivers don't have this problem. So they'll find out what it is and then they'll just be back at the next race'', concludes Albers.
