Valtteri Bottas topped all three timesheets in practice. But it was Lewis Hamilton who stepped up a gear when it mattered and he did that by recording his 95th pole position in Formula 1.

On Sunday the Mercedes cars will start in the front, followed by Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon on the second row. Charles Leclerc will start from fifth, while teammate Sebastian Vettel has to start from P14 at the back in Ferrari's 1000th Grand Prix. Pierre Gasly's position is also striking and characteristic of Formula 1. Last weekend, the Frenchman was crowned the winner, this weekend he will start from P16.
