The second free practice session on Friday at Mugello seemed to be finished when there was a red flag at the end of the session. Sergio Perez bumped into Kimi Raikkonen's Alfa Romeo in a rather clumsy way and as a result, parts were on the track.

Perez came out of the pits

Perez came out of the pit lane towards the end of the session, while Raikkonen was riding on the straight. The Finn was working on a long run and as a result did not drive as fast as Perez had probably estimated.

The Mexican therefore thought he could brake late at turn 1, but the Alfa Romeo was still there and when Raikkonen steered in, the two hit each other. Raikkonen was tapped into the gravel trap and Perez lost a front wing. This was the reason for the race management to call the driver of Racing Point.
