F1 LIVE: The first practice session ahead of the Tuscan Grand Prix in Italy

11 September 2020 at 09:30

The Tuscan Grand Prix weekend is about to start with the first free practice session at Mugello. It is the first time Formula 1 has come to Mugello for a Grand Prix weekend, so the teams and drivers will want to lap the circuit frequently. Follow all the action on the track here with the live blog from GPblog.com below.

In the build-up to the Tuscan Grand Prix, there's been lots of news! Sergio Perez, for example, announced his departure from Racing Point and Sebastian Vettel has announced that he will take his place in 2021, but will then drive for the team that will race under the name of Aston Martin.

It's Ferrari's celebration

Perhaps it is not entirely coincidental that Vettel chooses this weekend for the announcement. All attention should go to Ferrari, who are celebrating here because it will be their 1000th Grand Prix. Ferrari may also be happy again because perhaps all the news takes away from the attention on Ferrari's disappointing performance.

During the first free practice session, it is important for the teams, especially at Mugello, to get to know the track and adjust the setup of the car accordingly. Who stands out on Friday? Is it Mercedes again or is there a surprise in Tuscany?
