Sebastian Vettel will be seen in Formula 1 for a little longer, as the German has signed a new contract with Aston Martin for 2021 and 2022, to the delight of Gerhard Berger and Franz Tost.

Vettel stays in F1

''I am very happy that Sebastian has made the decision not to stop yet. He's not someone who quits because he doesn't have a chance at the title, because he doesn't have that chance at Aston Martin in 2021. Mercedes and probably Red Bull too, are both too strong for that," said Berger according to F1-insider.com.

Vettel was forced to leave Ferrari, with Carlos Sainz replacing him for 2021. Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are the two strongest teams, but there was no room for the four-time world champion. At Aston Martin, Vettel will join a unique brand in motorsport in 2021.

Is this the right choice for Vettel?

''Aston Martin is one of the biggest names in the automotive world. That brand is legendary. It's a great coup for them to win Vettel. With Sebastian, you have a driver whose qualities you shouldn't underestimate and I believe there will be great results for Aston Martin, because they could have won a race with the current car'', says Berger.

While the former top man of Toro Rosso is very happy with the step of his former pupil, the team boss of AlphaTauri is not yet sure that this is the best step. ''It's good that Sebastian stays in Formula 1, but first we have to see if this is the right step for him," explained Franz Tost.
