Although it was coming after the Belgian Grand Prix, qualifying at Monza turned out to be a nightmare for Sebastian Vettel. The quadruple world champion is not satisfied with the actions of his colleagues.

2020 is not exactly the year for Vettel. The German will have to say goodbye to Ferrari at the end of the season and undoubtedly hoped to achieve a positive result to advertise himself to other teams for next season. And where the team has been performing strongly on classic power circuits in recent years, it is anything but the case in 2020.

Vettel was knocked out of qualifying as early as Q1, and will almost start the race at the back. According to the driver, this is mainly due to the actions of his colleagues on the track. "I knew before the start of the lap that it wouldn't be enough. There were too many cars in the same place. And when some started to catch up it was chaos and we were in the middle of it," Vettel said to the press after qualifying, including Auto, Motor und Sport.

Angry at drivers and Ferrari

The four-time world champion doesn't understand the actions of the other drivers. "It's simple math. There is minimum warm-up time and there were a certain number of cars in the group. If everyone concentrates on making enough space, it works for everyone. But if one car is going to overtake the other, then that math doesn't work anymore. I think we would have been a little faster than the cars around us," Vettel continues frustrated.

The German driver-focused his anger afterwards not only on the other drivers but also on his own team on the radio. "It was foreseeable that we would end up in the middle of a group and fall into a trap. Why don't you just send me out later? That wasn't very clever and others solved that better". Teammate Charles Leclerc was given plenty of room in qualifying but was unable to get any further than P13 in the end.
