Mercedes are once again dominant this season, with five victories out of six races, and given the speed difference in Barcelona, this doesn't seem likely to end quickly. Nevertheless, Toto Wolff still sees Verstappen as a formidable competitor for the championship.

"There are still ten races to go (after Spa). This means that a driver can get a maximum of 250 points (260 with extra points; a note from the editors). We are 30 points ahead. That's nothing. We always knew it wouldn't be easy and we can't sit back and relax".

Mercedes did not give it's all on Friday

After the Friday Verstappen seems to be a formidable competitor this weekend. A threat that Wolff takes very seriously. But he also has to admit that his team hasn't shown the back of their tongue yet.

"We certainly haven't taken any risks, but there's no guarantee we'll be in front on Sunday afternoon. Our speed was good, but we'll have to try harder on Saturday to understand if we're on the right track," said the team boss of Mercedes to Motorsport-Total.
