It is still not clear if Racing Point will it start with Sebastian Vettel or Sergio Perez in 2021. The British race team doesn't give much information, but Perez is very sure of his case. The experienced Mexican sees no reason why he should be replaced by the current Ferrari driver.

However, there is still no clarity. "It's just a matter of time, as I said before," the 30-year-old driver told Motorsport.com, among others, during the press conference in Belgium. He himself would like to stay at Racing Point at least longer. "I feel really happy in the team. I believe in the project, I've been here for a while, and I can see how the team is going upwards. We all feel internally that everything is working well."

No reason to change

According to Perez, he is not the only one who feels this way about the formation of Lawrence Stroll. "We don't see the reason why we should change anything. I don't see any reason to change. I think we are enjoying a great season on track, and things are working really well in the team. I don't expect any change", he says.

Many a driver would have put his manager to work in order to carefully inquire about the possibilities for a seat with one of the other teams in Formula 1, but Perez is not doing that at the moment. "No. The feedback that I get from within the team is that we all want to continue. That's where my confidence comes from, and where we stay calm."

Lance Strol's teammate has a contract until the end of 2022, but there is a clause allowing Racing Point to terminate the contract prematurely. It is unclear exactly how this is described in the contract.
