The Grand Prix of Belgium is often a great spectacle. It is not only a very challenging course for drivers, but the chance of rain is always present. Giedo van der Garde gives Max Verstappen a good chance.

Battle between Hamilton and Verstappen

Earlier this week we already talked to Van der Garde about the Grand Prix of Belgium. "Spa is really a driver's circuit, you can make a bit more of a difference as a driver than on other circuits. Max thinks it is a cool circuit and of course he has achieved good results on it in the past. I think the gap will be the same as the last race'', Van der Garde already said.

Giedo tells NU.nl that Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are the favourites. ''If it is wet, we will see a duel between Verstappen and Hamilton. They are head and shoulders above the rest this season'', says Van der Garde, who expects that in dry weather Verstappen will have a harder time with Valtteri Bottas.

Full Formula 1 calendar

Last week it was also announced that the Turkish Grand Prix will return to the Formula 1 calendar. In conversation with GPblog.com, Van der Garde called it 'a nice circuit' and is happy that the circuit is back on the calendar. The question is what impact a full calendar will have on the title race.

''A longer season is definitely in the advantage of Verstappen and he certainly has no chance of winning the title. We've only had six races left, so we'll get eleven more. If Lewis drops out once, Max will be back in the game. Mercedes and Hamilton have shown this season that they are sometimes vulnerable'', the former Formula 1 driver concludes.
