Nico Hulkenberg is still talking about a seat for 2021 in Formula 1. The German, however, expects that it will still take a few weeks before there is clarity. The Dutch-speaking driver also states that he won't start somewhere as a reserve driver.

"I've been talking to a lot of people since the beginning of the year, and Silverstone hasn't changed that much. The talks are definitely positive, but there is nothing concrete to report. I think it will take a few more weeks", Hulkenberg reports to the German AvD Motorsport Magazine.

The 33 year old driver was described by Toto Wolff as 'interesting' for the role of reserve driver at Mercedes. However, the team boss of the German race team doesn't need to approach Hulkenberg for this position. "I do not see myself in the role of reserve driver. I've been sitting in the cockpit for ten years, standing at traffic lights. Then accepting a step backwards without much prospect of a regular drive makes little sense to me." At Mercedes he would never be able to grow.

Hulkenberg has advice for Vettel

Finally, the driver from Emmerik spoke about the situation of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari. The four-time world champion will leave the Italian race team after this season, but in 2020 the performance will be very disappointing. A departure with his head held high doesn't seem to be in it for the time being. "Sebastian has to concentrate on himself," advises his compatriot Hulkenberg. "Find his rhythm, do his job as well as he can and simply stay professional. And that's what he does, as far as I can tell."
