George Russell has shown some good talent in Formula 1. For some time now the Brit has been linked to a seat at Mercedes. Apart from Russell, however, there are many other talents who want to get a seat in F1, and will, therefore, have to excel in the lower classes first. So Russell Motorsport.com tips an unknown talent for victory in Formula 2.

For us, this talent may be unknown, but for Russell, this name certainly appears familiar: Callum Ilott. Russell and Ilott competed against each other in Formula 3 in 2016. Russell then left for the GP3 and Formula 2, to go to Formula 1. However, Ilott stayed in Formula 3 for another year, before going to the GP3 Series in 2018 and to Formula 2 in 2019.

Russell predicts the winner

Russell himself is very impressed by a number of drivers in Formula 2. But the British driver knows for sure who will host the championship battle: "I think the title is between Shwartzman and Ilott. Mazepin has surprised me and is doing very well at the moment. Today he came from P14 to P6 or something like that, and he was even one of the fastest men on the track. I think he could be a surprise in the latter part of the year, so it's going to be exciting. But I think Ilott wins."
