Key's worried about copying behavior: ''How do they want to control that?''

From 2021 onwards teams will no longer be allowed to copy what Racing Point have done. At least that is the wish of Formula 1. However, according to James Key there is a difference between a wish and a plan because the designer of McLaren thinks that this is not so easy to control.
From the beginning of 2020 it has been clear that Racing Point looks a lot like the Mercedes. However, during the season it became more and more clear that Racing Point didn't just use photos, but also obtained data from Mercedes. According to Key, this way of copying is difficult to control.
Can you check for copying behaviour?
''The FIA and Formula 1 have clearly indicated what they want in the future, so this copying can be prevented. This is very important for us, because as an independent team we want the sport to be fair and that teams do not get away with this kind of trick. It must be a fair competition for all participants," the technical topman of McLaren said according to Motorsport.com.
However, that will not be an easy task according to Key. ''It's all in the details, because first you have to figure out how they are going to control this. Since teams can buy parts from other teams, it has also become easier to get information. The other parts, however, have to be closely monitored, but I wouldn't know how they want to carry out that monitoring."
