Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the F1 season 2020 is perhaps the strangest in the history of the sport. For the drivers, for example, there is the mental challenge of isolation. Because of the bubble they live in, someone like Lewis Hamilton has to spend most of this year alone.

"The journey of an F1 driver fighting for the title can often feel like a lonely one," he says to Motorsport.com. "That will be reinforced this year, with the reduction in the number of people in your bubble and the limitation in travel. In the past I traveled a lot and did other things that I found positive".

Motivation for Hamilton

This is now on a low level and his family doesn't see Hamilton either. These are circumstances that would make a battle for the world title more difficult for many drivers, but Hamilton seems to thrive on things that could be seen as setbacks.

According to team boss Toto Wolff, a battle off the track gives his driver energy, not just the coronavirus. "Lewis is always at his best when he's fighting setbacks. I think the Black Lives Matter movement is important to him and it certainly helps him in his motivation".
