After the Spanish Grand Prix Helmut Marko was frustrated with tyre wear at Red Bull Racing. Whereas the RB16 was very good on tyres during the second British Grand Prix at Silverstone, this was anything but the case a week later.

"On the hard tyre it was exactly the opposite of Silverstone: we couldn't keep up with the pace (of Mercedes)", says Marko in conversation with Sky Sport. The 77-year-old Austrian goes on to say that the degradation of the tyres at Red Bull was much higher than at the German world champion.

Albon in particular became the victim of the poor performing tyres. "With Max they still worked well halfway through the race, but with Albon nothing worked at all. It doesn't matter which compound he was driving on. At least the hard tyre wasn't good for us."

Where Verstappen took victory last week by opting for the hard tyre, a nice classification of Albon was ruined by the tyre with the white markings. In the end the British Thai finished eighth.
