It was already feared, but now it's official that Sergio Perez is not starting the upcoming race because of a positive Covid-19 test result. After an unclear result on Thursday, the Racing Point driver was tested again. This test was made that Perez is not allowed to participate in the Grand Prix of Great Britain.

Whether Perez actually feels too sick to race is not clear, but the F1 policy at least ensures that Perez is not allowed to race this weekend. For safety reasons the driver can't get close to other people.

A small group of staff members was tested again immediately after the first unclear result of Perez. Chances are that these people are infected as well. This puts Racing Point in a difficult situation. If anything can be arranged by the FIA with regard to another driver, it is also questionable whether Racing Point will be able to work the weekend with a depleted team.

What this means for the upcoming races hasn't been officially announced yet, but it seems an even heavier disappointment for the team as the news has come out at the start of a triple header. Perez will miss at least two weekends with the prescribed two-week quarantine. With a bit of bad luck, that could be three races if F1 doesn't consider it safe.
