The Grand Prix of Great Britain is coming up this weekend. The expectation is that Mercedes will take the win again, but Dutch GP director Jan Lammers thinks that Red Bull Racing might be able to take on the challenge. Provided their issues with the RB16 are solved.

For Red Bull the season has not yet turned out as hoped. Prior to the season it was a dream that Max Verstappen's team would be able to compete with Mercedes, but for the time being that's not the case. Red Bull continues to struggle with problems.

It will therefore be a very difficult job for the team to compete with Mercedes at Silverstone. The German team is very strong on the circuit. Yet Jan Lammers sees opportunities. "But it will mainly depend on whether Red Bull can solve the problem with the car. There is enormous potential in the car and they have to try to find it", the former F1-driver explains to Dutch outlet NU.nl.

Fighting with Mercedes or Racing Point

"If Red Bull's team can solve the problem, they can make it difficult for Mercedes. If that's not the case, it will be a battle with the cars of Racing Point on the fast Silverstone circuit", continues Lammers.

The 'pink Mercedes' could do well this weekend, thanks to the characteristics of the car. If the team manages to get on the podium, it will be a long time before the discussion about the car from Racing Point ends.
