Nick Heidfield is looking forward to a transfer from Sebastian Vettel to Racing Point (next year Aston Martin). The former driver thinks it would be a good step for both parties, but that the team will certainly benefit from it.

"Sebastian is facing a very difficult decision. After leaving Ferrari he initially said he only wanted to stay with a top team. In the meantime, however, he only says that he wants 'a good package'. For me that means that he wants to stay in Formula 1", says former driver Heidfield in conversation with Sky Sport.

Racing Point, which as of next season will be as Aston Martin, would be in the market for the German. According to Heidfield, this is a great opportunity for Vettel. "It could be a good option for him, especially because of the Mercedes engine. That would work for both parties, but especially for the team. Sebastian would be a huge help, especially because of his knowledge. No doubt Sebastian can make a difference for any team with ambitions. If you look at the current performance compared to the Ferrari, he would even improve at Aston Martin".

Worst start since 2009

Heidfield is critical of Vettel's Italian employer, which has had the worst start to the season since 2009. "Lewis Hamilton defeated Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel in Hungary. What a humiliation! You actually wanted to compete for the title, but it's not there anymore."
