Ferrari brought several updates, but have they worked?
- GPblog.com
Since the dramatic season start of Ferrari, the team from Maranello (Italy) has been working with man and power to develop their car. Three races later, and the world famous Ferrari is still in the unknown midfield. With the qualification in Hungary as a small bright spot on the horizon.
For the second race of the world championship at Spielberg, Ferrari had brought a new front wing. Including a modified floor that can guarantee a greater aerodynamic load without harming the aerodynamic resistance. Ferrari also arrived here with a different rear suspension, which according to the team could have been a surprise.
But unfortunately...
The new rear suspension would only be applied to Charles Leclerc's car during the second race in Austria. Ferrari could not wait to analyze the updates during an entire race. The result? Leclerc competed with his team mate Sebastian Vettel in the first lap, resulting in two failures. No points, no dates, nothing...
On the circuit of Hungary the updates were installed on both cars. The qualification of Hungary was certainly not bad for Ferrari: on the third row of the grid behind 4 Mercedes cars. In the race, however, things went downhill for the Italian team: "It is clear that there were some adjustment problems which, at least at the Hungaroring, hindered the use of all the possibilities of Ferrari," says F1 analyst Franco Nugnes at Motorsport.com.
