"Seems unlikely that Mercedes' made such a step forwards"

Max Verstappen managed to secure a nice second place for Red Bull Racing at the Hungaroring, but it's been a long time since the team looked so 'mediocre'. According to Christijan Albers, Red Bull now has to look at itself and not point the finger at an engine supplier.
"The only problem they certainly don't have is Max Verstappen," says the former F1 driver in the podcast from De Telegraaf. "Because he, together with Lewis Hamilton, is the fastest driver in the field", according to Albers, that doesn't mean a lack of speed and he also has to admit that Red Bull had a good development last season, where they could make Mercedes really difficult at a certain point. Nevertheless, Albers is also annoyed by Red Bull.
Mercedes can hardly have made such a big step
"The only thing I really don't like is that Red Bull always points to the engine very quickly. We've seen that with Renault in previous years, when Renault didn't have such a bad engine at all. In Formula 1 you will always have an engine that has 20 to 25 horsepower more".
"On the other hand, Honda was very good last year and I think it's unlikely Mercedes made such a big step. So I honestly think they [Red Bull Racing] should start looking at the car and especially the efficiency of the car. That is, the combination of resistance and downforce that a car generates".
