Jubilant Verstappen on board radio after the race: "You are legendary!"

Just before the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix, it seemed that Max Verstappen wouldn't be able to start the race at all. Due to a clumsy error on the way to the grid, he had broken the left front wheel. The relief and joy at the end of the race is released when he finished second after holding off a fight from Valtteri Bottas in the final stages of the race.

"You've done it Max, P2. You absolutely rung out every single ounce of pace out there mate, class of your own outside the Mercedes. Can't say anything more, well done," his race engineer told Verstappen in the exit round. The Dutchman can hear the adrenaline in his voice well, but he doesn't forget to thank his mechanics.

Verstappen has repaid mechanics

“Wow haha, yes, guys! What a result! I want to say a big thank you to the mechanics because they saved the day. You guys are legends thank you so much!" He tells the men who did a miracle job before the start to get the RB16 back in optimal condition.

Team boss Christian Horner also reminds him of that. Fortunately, everyone can also go home with a smile thanks to the great driving of Verstappen. "Yeah, well done Max, you summed it up perfectly there. The lads did an amazing job for you today," Horner added.
