Even a crash on the way to the grid doesn't stop him: Verstappen driver of the day

19 July 2020 at 17:14

Max Verstappen has been chosen as the driver of the day by the public. It was a bit of a squeeze for the Dutchman who parked his car in the wall before the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix, but thanks to the good work of his mechanics, Verstappen was able to start.

Crash on the way to the start

It seemed that Verstappen wouldn't race at all when he ended up in the wall on his lap to the grid. The Red Bull Racing mechanics have had about 20 minutes to repair his car and they have succeeded with 20 seconds to spare.

After the lights went out, Verstappen quickly moved from seventh place to second place and he wouldn't give way again. Valtteri Bottas was close to the end of the race, but was never able to attack unlike last week in Austria.

The driver of the day

The audience liked the spectacular start and race of Verstappen so much that they voted him the driver of the day with 18.1% of the votes. Lewis Hamilton received 14.9% of the vote and Sebastian Vettel 12.8%.
