Bottas: "We haven't signed anything yet, but it's heading in the right direction"

For the 2021 season, many team line-ups already seem to be fixed. Some teams have even confirmed them, while others have strong indications that more news will come soon. Also at Mercedes it seems that there will soon be more clarity about the drivers' contracts. Valtteri Bottas even indicates that the conversations are already going in a very good direction.
"I can tell that the talks have started in the meantime, because we have all realised that time goes fast with these triple-headers and it's a pretty tough schedule for all of us," explains Bottas to Motorsport.com. "Of course, nothing has been signed yet, but I think it's heading in the right direction."
Focus on championship
According to Bottas it's not convenient for him to focus on his contract for 2021 now. "The important thing is to stay focused on the championship now. There are great things to achieve this year so I'm keeping my focus on that. I'm sure that one day more will become clear. There's no rush anyway."
Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton is happy to have Bottas as a teammate for another year. "Every year you see Valtteri grow as a driver, but also as a team player. He discovers his own strengths and weaknesses and he is working on that. You now see a fit and focused driver this year and I think that is very good. I really enjoy working with him", concludes Hamilton.
