Daniel Ricciardo knows the position Sebastian Vettel is currently in quite well to some extent. The Australian driver stepped back from a top team to a midfield team, albeit of his own choice. Sebastian Vettel will have to do this, as Ferrari does not want to continue with him. Since the situations are somewhat similar, Ricciardo has some advice for the German.

Take your time

"You have to think about it quietly," says Daniel Ricciardo at the Hungaroring against Speedweek. "Vettel has had good cars almost his whole career. If I remember correctly, he has been on the podium almost every Formula 1 year. If he enters the midfield, it will be unknown territory for him."

The chances of competing at the top are many times smaller and as a driver you are more dependent on how the developments in the factory go. That's why Ricciardo says that "Sebastian must have a lot of patience." Of course it is also questionable whether Vettel is really ready, but Ricciardo hopes for the sport that he remains involved.

"In the end it's his decision. If he feels he is ready to go, it would be great if he can stay involved in our sport. But if he decides to do it, he has to realize that it can take time," Ricciardo says, aiming for developments and the way to the top.

"It's not a solution for just one season, you have to commit for two or maybe three years. I love Seb and I hope he finds a place where he is happy", said the always smiling Australian. That it takes time is clear from his own situation, because Renault still hasn't found a way to fight with Red Bull and Mercedes.
