It's the story of the moment: is Sebastian Vettel going to drive for Aston Martin next season, which is still as Racing Point, or not? Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko thinks it is a good interim solution.

Transfer to Aston Martin

"Sebastian is 33 years old and if this opportunity presents itself at Aston Martin and if he takes advantage of it - that is, the contract is designed so that it would be to his satisfaction - then this is a good interim solution", says Marko in the RTL web show Sportbude.

"The odds for 2022 are considerably higher because some contracts will expire and the budget limit will be fully effective for the first time in 2022. Teams like McLaren or Renault may also have the chance to be at the top if they fit a good chassis", Marko continues.

Sabbatical year for Vettel?

Marko can also imagine that Vettel chooses to take a 'sabbatical' for a year. "To charge the batteries and think: do I really want that? Because racing isn't all fun. You have to be all over the world and you're separated from the family."

"If you saw the performance of Sergio Perez in Austria, who drove forward from sixteenth place. Then you have to say: this car seems to have a lot of potential. And a Vettel is certainly more valuable than a Perez", the Austrian concludes.
