Where Alexander Albon received a lot of criticism after the Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring it is Peter Windsor who wants to compete for the Red Bull Racing driver. The journalist who has been racing in Formula 1 for years believes that Albon has done an excellent job by keeping Sergio Perez behind him.

The British Thai was accused last week that he couldn't follow Max Verstappen's pace and drove a lot of seconds behind his teammate. However, according to Windsor, what is forgotten is that Albon had to hold off the Mexican Racing Point driver for more than half a race.

"I think there is another driver I think could have become Driver of the Day. That's Albon," Windsor surprisingly kicks off his analysis on his YouTube account. Racing Point's car was much faster than the RB16 in the second part of the GP at Spielberg. "You thought it was going to be a matter of time and that Albon would be a sitting duck, but at no time did he give Perez even an inch of space".

Albon shows defensive skills

The 68-year-old Brit continues his hymn of praise: "He was great on defense. It's new that we're seeing this with Alex. I can imagine it was frustrating for Perez. Sergio is very good at defending himself and he thought he would probably catch up with Albon within two laps. Albon defended under tremendous pressure in a car that is difficult to drive."

In the final lap Albon and Perez were able to make a touché between them, but Windsor is of the opinion that Max Verstappen's team mate was also doing an excellent job at that time. "It was a strong result from Albon."
