Because of the upcoming rain, the Saturday in Spielberg will be a completely different Saturday than normal. The third free practice session and qualifying for the Styrian Grand Prix are both still uncertain, as thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected on the Red Bull Ring today. In any case, the third free practice session could be crucial if qualifying does not go ahead. The third free practice starts at 11:00 UK time.

Rain puts Saturday in danger?

The rain in Spielberg has meant that the FIA have already indicated that there is a chance Saturday's action could be cancelled. If the precipitation actually turns out to be significant, which means that FP3 and qualifying have to be cancelled, then the results of FP2 on Friday will be used to determine Sunday's grid. That would mean that Max Verstappen will start on pole position.

However, it is still unclear whether the rain will come on time to get in the way of the third free practice session. On Saturday morning it was still dry, but the upcoming rain showers could just change that.

Racing Point in front?

The results of FP2 were very positive for Racing Point. Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez have high expectations for this weekend, which they again lived up to on Friday. Perez was even the fastest in the first free practice and in FP2 both drivers were back at the front of the field.
