No less than eleven drivers did not make it to the finish line at the first Grand Prix of the postponed Formula 1 season last Sunday. According to Helmut Marko, advisor of Red Bull, this is due to the track in Spielberg, Austria.

"The kerbs were the problem, especially in turn six and seven", said Marko in conversation with Sport1. "The cars were extremely shaken up." He thinks it's a reason for the failure of both Red Bull cars. "A cable may come loose, but we had electronic problems. Exactly what happened is still being investigated. But we're convinced it has something to do with the high kerbs."

"On a normal circuit as in Barcelona such defects would not occur", Marko says resolutely. Only eleven cars crossed the finish line. That hadn't happened in the pinnacle of motorsport for five years. Among the retirements was Max Verstappen, who had to abandon his battle for the win after eleven laps. His teammate Alexander Albon also dropped out due to technical problems.
