Leclerc remains critical after the race: "We still have a lot of work to do"

Anyone who had said to Charles Leclerc on Saturday that he would finish on the podium in the Austrian Grand Prix would be crazy. However, with some fortune, Leclerc managed to seize second place in Spielberg.

"I didn't expect this," Leclerc said honestly in his first reaction. "It's a big surprise, but it's a nice one. I think we did everything right today to be honest. Of course we had some luck with Lewis Hamilton's punishment and some crashes here and there. But that's part of racing. That was the goal to get ahead, even though our speed wasn't really good enough for second place".

Work to be done for Ferrari

However, Ferrari is not yet where it wants to be. "We still have a lot of work to do, but this ensures satisfaction. Everything is still possible, so we have to remain mentally strong as a team and continue to work together. We'll come back, but it's going to take a while.

"I wanted to be very aggressive and I did," Leclerc continues his story. "I just went for it when I could. It was difficult, but I enjoyed it," he said about his overtaking actions on Lando Norris and Sergio Perez, among others.
