Toto Wolff was very satisfied with Mercedes' one-two in qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix. The German race stable managed to repel an attack from Red Bull Racing, but the Austrian team boss expects another attack from Max Verstappen tomorrow. For that reason Mercedes are vigilant.

"We knew we had a strong car," Wolff explains to Sky Sports.

"We didn't know if there would be a surprise from Red Bull, we are always vigilant. They took a risk to go for another strategy, knowing that the temperature would be different. Maybe they took that risk because they knew they were going to be short on speed."

It's a huge boost for the Mercedes team to return to racing and be successful immediately. "It's so good to come back. Everything came together today which is also a good indication for the season."

Valtteri Bottas started the new F1 season in strong fashion, as he took pole at the season opener, just like in Australia last year.

"This is a circuit that suits him. He's done a good job."
