Vettel doesn't want to make a hasty decision, even though time running out
Sebastian Vettel hasn't found another team to drive for in 2021 after the announcement he will be leaving Ferrari. Some think he might be able to take a year off, but the German doesn't see anything in that.
The announcement that Vettel will no longer drive for Ferrari next year came as a bit of a surprise to the German himself. It was not a decision after a failed contract negotiation, according to the driver, the team simply dropped him.
The four-time world champion is currently looking for a place with another team, with a clear preference for a top team. If that alone fails, the German will probably not return to the sport. "If no other team comes along, I'll have time to do something else", Vettel said at a press conference in Austria.
No hasty decision
"I'm convinced that if you're willing to close that door, you should be willing to close it and not expect it to open again. You have to be aware of the choice you're making at that moment and that's why I won't make a hasty decision," Vettel explains.
There is no clear hint at the moment regarding which teams the driver is talking to for a seat in 2021. That is likely to change soon. "The coming weeks and months will bring more clarity", Vettel continues.
