Lewis Hamilton won the last three world titles in a row and won five in the last six seasons. Nevertheless, the field is getting younger and younger and the young talents are banging on the door to take his place.

In 2019 Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen already came close to the reigning champion. Where Sebastian Vettel in recent years could not win from Hamilton and peer Fernando Alonso has stopped, it must come from the new generation to beat Hamilton. A change of guard is imminent.

Changing of the guard

"Outside Hamilton, there's been a change of guard. If Alonso does not return and Vettel leaves at the end of 2020, you can say that the change is complete. However, there are some older drivers you shouldn't underestimate. For example, you still have to watch out for Valtteri Bottas'', says Martin Brundle in his preview for Sky Sports.

Brundle also looks at the other young drivers in the sport. ''Esteban Ocon is coming back and I am very curious what he can do in a Renault. I also hope that George Russell gets the chance he deserves in the next six months'', concludes Brundle.
