Bottas stands behind Hamilton and Mercedes: ''Proud of this statement''

Lewis Hamilton has been working hard for the fight against racism over the past period and his team is now responding to this. Team mate Valtteri Bottas is also happy with the black livery and the message Mercedes wants to send out with it.
''Formula 1 is a world defined by performance, but it still contains many barriers for people coming from backgrounds not traditionally part of the sport. We know that our teams are stronger if they are more representative of the society of which we are part and it is important for us to be united and show our commitment to change," said the Finn in the statement of Mercedes.
Bottas proud of his team
Since the death of George Floyd in America, the racism debate has become bigger than ever and Hamilton has clearly expressed its views on the role of Formula 1 in this debate. According to the British, F1 is also too conservative and more needs to be done. F1 has responded with the new project #WeRaceAsOne.
Valtteri could not be heard as much as his teammate, but he fully supports the position of his team. ''Racism and discrimination do not belong in our sport or in our society and I am proud to be able to make this important statement with the team, with Lewis and with Mercedes-Benz", concludes the Mercedes driver.
